Designer Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss was born and raised in Manhattan and attended UCLA to get her degrees in History and Art History. Following her graduation, she began working at a lingerie factory to learn about design, fabric sourcing, and construction in preparation for her career in the fashion industry. Her collection debuted in November 1998, featuring a feminine, sexy combination of a sundress, thongs, and bag. She has since expanded far beyond that three piece set into designing whimsical dresses with an attention to detail rarely seen in contemporary collections. She found that there was a void in the market for women who need to wear bra with each piece of clothing. That inspired her and now makes up the core of her collection. It is a favorite among Hollywood heavy hitters such as Rachel Weisz, Debra Messing, and Uma Thurman.
